Anti-Photography // Non-Photography

Like Instagram but it's not.

Anti-Photography // Non-Photography

This is not Photography. This is not Art. Otherwise or if anything, it could be considered Commodified Art. If everyone is a photographer, then no one is a photographer. How is redundancy actually determined? Where is the line? When and at what point do experts and "do what you love"-ers gatekeep?

If the internet is a dumpster and content is trash, art is in there too.

Honestly, all of these images were just taken on a smart phone. They were zoomed in, taking interesting composition into account or highlighting certain shapes and objects. Consequently they are cropped to the square format. Thanks Instagram for standardizing that and the taking it away again ;)

Why bother listing "photography" as one of your "hobbies" or even "passions" or maybe even "expertise", if it's something everyone does anyway? What makes you any more of a photographer, designer, artist than me? What makes Karen, who documents her vacations with her phone camera (or if she's upper middle class, her DSLR camera), any more or less of a photographer than me or insert famous photographer?

Especially in an age of anti-(true-)intellectualism, it's important to keep in mind, that expertise is provided by insight. Especially in an age of late stage capitalism and growing ignorance, it is important to keep in mind, that experts are human and can be blindsighted, while the outsider provides valuable additional insight.

This has all been said before. Is this text redundant? I don't know, I'll just dump it here into the internet trash.
